Everest region is Nepals most well-known area for trekking and is still attracting an increasing amount of tourists every year. It is widely known for being the region where the worlds highest peak, Mt Everest, known as Sagarmatha to most Nepalese and Chomolungma to the local Sherpas, is found. Solukhumbu, the district which is housing Evererest region, is the home of one of Nepals most famous ethnic groups, the Sherpa people. The Sherpas are known for their friendliness and their ability to live in high altitude. They are often the ones who climb Everest time after other and you will meet them on many trekking trail, and often also have them as your trekking staff.
