Itinerary
Day 1: Flight to Pokhara.
Domestic flight to Pokhara. A driver will pick you up on arrival and take you to the hotel for check-in. Your trekking guide will come to your hotel in the evening to give you a duffel bag to pack the things that you want to bring on the trek. A duffel bag is easy for your porter to carry, rather than a backpack. Your suitcase will stay at the hotel during the trek. You will also get a sleeping bag and inner linen. Hotel according to your budget.
Day 2: Start of trekking, reaching Banskharka.
Today we start our 4 days trek in Annapurna. Mohare Danda trek is one of Nepal’s most famous eco-community lodge treks. It opened in 2010 and is easily accessible and not too long, however, still offers a mix of overwhelming views over the Himalayas and mountain culture. After breakfast, we drive to Beni, about 4 hours. From there we cross the Kali Gandaki river on a suspension bridge and start our ascent for about 3 hours to Banskharka (1526 m.), or Suntalakharka as it is also called. “Suntala” means orange, and the name derives from the enormous orange orchards of the village. We stay in the community homestay. A feature of eco-tourism in the area is that no privately owned lodges are allowed, in order to ensure tourism works in favor of the local community.
(Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included).
Day 3: Trek to Nangi.
From solar panels to water pumps, internet, sustainable farming practices, and electricity, the local community of fewer than 500 inhabitants, and volunteers from around the world have made Nangi a model of sustainability. They also have managed to retain cultural values and traditions while bringing cutting-edge technology into their village and school. In Nangi we are staying at a community lodge built by the Himachal Education Foundation.
(Breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 4: Trek to Mohare Danda.
We trek to Mohare Danda (3320 m.), 6-7 hours. It is an uphill and pretty strenuous hike but rewarded with good views and rhododendron forests. If we are lucky, we might encounter some yaks or some wild animals or beautiful birds on our way. In Mohare Danda we stay in a community teahouse on the top of the hill, with magnificent views over peaks like Fishtail 6993 m., Nilgiri 7061m., Tukuche 6920 m., 8167 m., South Annapurna 7219 m., and the 7th highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri 8167 m. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included) Dhaulagiri (8,172m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna I (8,091m), and climbing prohibited Mount Machhapuchre (6,997m).
(Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included).
Day 5: Last day of trekking and back to Pokhara.
(Breakfast and lunch included).
