This tour takes you on a journey through the cultural heart of Nepal, the Kathmandu Valley. While staying in world heritage areas like Boudha, you’ll visit ancient temples, palaces, and other historic sites in the cities of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nala, and Namobuddha. The tour also includes a visit to the stunning Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple.
- Day 1: Arrival, Pashupatinath and Boudha.
- Day 2: Central Kathmandu and Nagarkot.
- Day 3: Nala monastery and Namobuddha.
- Day 4: Namobuddha and Bhaktapur.
- Day 5: Bhaktapur Old City and departure.
Day 1: Arrival, Pashupatinath and Boudha.
Upon your arrival at 15.30 you will e picked up by Beyond Borders Ethical Adventures representative. On the way from the airport we make a stop at the famous Hindu temple Pashupatinath. From there we continue to the Tibetan Buddhist area of Boudha to check in at Hotel Dolmaling. In the evening we have dinner and short briefing about your upcoming days. (Dinner is included).
Day 2: Central Kathmandu and Nagarkot.
In the morning we check out from the hotel and drive to central Kathmandu. From here we make a city walk crossing the old Palace square, full of beautiful temples and pavilions, the local market where all sorts of items are sold, and ending up in Thamel, the main tourist area of the city. After lunch we drive to Nagarkot which is famous for its views over the Himalayas. Here you will stay at the cute Nagarkot Farmhouse, and you will also have dinner there. (Breakfast and dinner are included).
Day 3: Nala and Namobuddha.
After breakfast we make an easy 2-3 hours hike to the monastery Dhakpo Sheydrub Ling in Nala. Here we eat lunch with the 150 lamas (monks) living there. From here we continue to drive and hike to Namobuddha. If time permits we cross Dhulikhel hill by foot. Upon reaching Namobuddha we spend the evening at Sanskriti Farm and Research Center where we also have dinner. Due to the cold weather and to the risk of freezing, we will however sleep at Vishuddi Alaya Yoga Retreat just nearby the farm. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
Day 4: Namobuddha and Bhaktapur.
We make a long morning walk to see Nepal’s second most important Buddhist pilgrimage site, the stupa which is believed to accommodate relics of Buddha’s former incarnation. We also visit the huge monastery on top of the hill. From here we drive to Bhaktapur and check in at Hotel Paradise. (Breakfast and dinner are included).
Day 5: Bhaktapur and departure.
We start the morning with a city walk across the old city of Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is the best preserved of the old kingdoms in Kathmandu Valley and consists of four squares. If there is time we can make a walk in the Gyampe danda area, a green area with good views, before driving back to Kathmandu and the airport. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
