Overview
This trip takes you to the rural districts of Kavre and Sindhupalchowk, where you’ll experience the traditional way of life in Nepal. You’ll visit local communities and learn about their customs and traditions, as well as explore the stunning natural landscapes of the region.
Short Itinerary
- Day 1: Drive to Namobuddha
- Day 2: Hike to Panauti, drive to banepa, Local Bus to Dhulikhel
- Day 3: Local bus to rafting resort / Rafting / Bus to Melamchi
- Day 4: Hike or by Bus to Sarmathang
- Day 5: Hiking in Helambu
- Day 6: Back to Kathmandu
Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Namobuddha
You get to Banepa around 1 pm on your own. There are many local buses leaving from Kathmandus Old Buspark, or you can take a taxi.
From Banepa we drive to Namobuddha, one of Nepal’s most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Here is a fantastic, colorful Tibetan monastery located and we stay either in the monastery or in a nearby homestay. (D)

Day 2: Hike to Panauti, drive to banepa, Local Bus to Dhulikhel
After having visited the beautiful colorful monastery and the square with the stupa, and hopefully having seen a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas we start our 2 hours walk. We walk across orange orchards and small traditional Tamang villages. When we reach the black topped road our vehicle picks us up and drive us to Panauti. Here we make a short walk across the ancient temple area. We have lunch in Panauti and continue with the vehicle back to Banepa and Araniko Highway where you were picked up yesterday. From here we continue as far as we have time to get until the evening, which will probably be Dolalghat. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Local bus to rafting resort / Rafting / Bus to Melamchi
We travel by local bus from Dolalghat to Sukute Beach Rafting Resort. We have breakfast at the resort and start rafting. Once back at the resort we have lunch and take the bus to Zerokilo. If we become late we will stay here for the night but in the best case, we manage to catch a bus all the way to Melamchi Bazar where there are several better guesthouses to choose from. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Hike or by Bus to Sarmathang
In the morning we take the local bus to Sermathang in Helambu. The bus is not always reaching all the way so we might have to make a nice walk from Timbu, about 4 hours from Sermathang. (B/L/D)

Day 5: Hiking in Helambu
Today we make a hike in Helambu around Sermathang. We come back to the resort for dinner. (B/L/D)
