Day 1: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1469 m.)/ 8 hrs drive

Start off in the morning and drive up to Syabrubesi located north of Kathmandu in the Langtang National Park via Trishuli and Dhunche. Alt. you travel with local transport and meet up with your guide and staff on the start of the trek.

Early breakfast and start off on the trek. After crossing the Bhotekoshi river by a suspension bridge, the route heads north-east, climbing steadily for about 2 hours where we get a rewarding view of the Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda and Goljang valley from the top. We continue an hour downhill and reach Goljang for lunch. From here we continue another 3 hours, passing prayer flags and chortens, until we reach the village of Ghatlang lying amidst terraced fields.

We begin by descending to Tangbuchet next to the Bhotekoshi river and the Chilime hydropower dam. Here we cross a suspension bridge and ascend up to Tatopani. The meaning of Tatopani is hot water and is an indication of the hot springs located there. We rest in the hot springs and clean up after a long day’s trek.

A beautiful day of hiking across flora and fauna with wonderful mountain views. In Brimdang village we stop for lunch and continue ascending up to the viewpoint of Nagthali danda (3165 m.) where we visit the monastery, have tea, and see the panoramic views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and Sanjen ranges. With some luck, we can encounter deer and langur monkeys on the way. From here we descend to Thuman, a Tibetan-influenced Tamang village.

From Thuman, we descend 640 meters down which takes us 2-3 hours. We cross a river and again ascend for an hour to reach Timure, en route to the old trade route where we have lunch and walk up to the Tibetan border linked by a suspension bridge. We visit the fortress of Rasuwagadi built in 1912.

We start off in the morning crossing a rhododendron forest. The village of Briddim is very similar to its neighboring villages on the other side of the border in Tibet. Here we watch a cultural program performed by the members of the community and are in awe of the unique system the homestay of the village is set up with. All accommodation, food, and lodging are offered at individual houses on a rotational basis. Here we get an on this trek incomparable chance to watch and participate in the local life of the village. The host family also guides us and explains life in the village.

We trek from Briddim via Wangel to Syabrubesi, a hike taking us around 4-5 hours crossing terraces villages and beautiful hill views. In Syabrubesi we say goodbye to our staff during the trek and sleep for the night.

Travel back to Kathmandu the same way as we came.
