Overview
The Pikey Peak Trek takes you to the stunning Pikey Peak, located in the Solukhumbu region. The trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and takes you through traditional Sherpa villages and lush forests. For several days we walk with Everest by our side, we visit a large monastery in the mountains, and we spend several days walking through villages, meeting friendly people who are happy to share their everyday life with us.

Short Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu.
- Day 2: Sightseeing central Kathmandu.
- Day 3: Drive to Thade, 2800 m. 10 hours drive.
- Day 4: Trek to Jhapre, 2900 m. 6 hours trek.
- Day 5: Trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp, 3700 m. 7-8 hours trek.
- Day 6: Trek to Pikey Peak, 4067 m. Continue to Jase Bhanjyang, 3520 m. 6 hours trek.
- Day 7: Trek to Junbesi, 2700 m. 5-6 hours trek.
- Day 8: Trek to Thupten Choeling Buddhist monastery, 3100 m.
- Day 9: By jeep to Lamjura, 3 hours. Trek to Sete, 2535 m. 3 hours trek.
- Day 10: Trek to Thado khola, 3 hour. By jeep to Bhandar, 2512 m. 1 hour drive.
- Day 11: Trek to Deurali, 2705 m. 3 hours trek.
- Day 12: Trek to Shivalaya, 1700 m. 4 hours trek.
- Day 13: Trek to Jiri, drive to Mirge, 1600 m. 3-4 hours trek.
- Day 14: Full day in Mirge, home of trekking staff.
- Day 15: Trek to Namdu, 3 hours. By vehicle to Kathmandu, 6 hours drive.
- Day 16: Sightseeing in Kathmandu.
- Day 17: Departure
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu.
We pick you up from the airport upon your arrival. You stay at a hotel in Thamel, the main tourism area of Kathmandu, located central in the city. We make a small walk to see the area around the hotel. In the
evening we have a welcome dinner and small briefing regarding your
trek. (Dinner included)
Day 2: Sightseeing in Central Kathmandu.
Today we make a city walk, crossing the central local market. We reach Palace square of Kathmandu, where we walk around to understand the rich history of the valley. Lunch on the way. In the afternoon you can walk around in Thamel, the tourism area, to buy gear you might
need for your trek. (Breakfast/lunch included)
Day 3: Drive to Thade.
We start off the early morning by our own vehicle to the village Thade, mainly populated by the ethnic group Magar and with a spectacular view over the Himalayas and Everest. We stay at a newly built resort and enjoy the sunset view in the evening. Overnight at Everest View Hotel, a good standard teahouse. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 4: Trek to Jhapre.
We start our trek after breakfast. We walk up to the village of Jhapre, and if weather is clear we see Mt Everest almost all day while walking. Here we visit the old and beautiful monastery. Overnight at a normal standard teahouse. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 5: Trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp.
Today the walk is long! After a walk crossing grasslands and forests, we reach Lhamuje, 3520 m. The path is steep the last bit up to Pikey Base Camp. On the way we have good chance to meet grazing yaks. We reach the teahouse and sleep early and prepare for going to the top tomorrow early morning. Overnight at Shangri-La teahouse, a normal/good standard teahouse. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 6: Trek to Pikey Peak, 4067 m. Continue to Jase Bhanjyang.
Early morning in the dark, with the help of headlights, we start our walk up to Pikey Peak. The walk takes us about an hour and we mainly walk up stairs. From Pikey Peak, we have an amazing view over the Himalayas and in case of clear weather, we can see all the way from Annapurna in the west to Kangchenjunga in the east. We spend the morning on the peak and descend slowly. After breakfast, we descend north from Pikey to the village of Jasmane. Overnight at a simple teahouse. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 7: Trek to Junbesi, 5-6 hours.
This is one of the most beautiful days of our trek. We start with an uphill, crossing a plateu, and then we descend for 1-2 hours to the scenic village Junbesi. On the way we have lunch in scenic Taktor. In Junbesi we stay at a homestay. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 8: Trek to Thupten Choeling Buddhist monastery, 1.5 hours.
We make a walk in the village of Junbesi before we trek up to the enormous monastery, located some 1.5 hours outside the village. Here live hundreds of very friendly, mainly Tibetan, monks and nuns in small houses spread out on the mountainside. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 9: Jeep to Lamjura. Trek to Sete.
We take a jeep to the Lamjura pass and walk downhill to Sete, where we stay for the night. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 10: Trek to Thado khola. Drive to Bhandar.
After breakfast, we start our trek to Kinja. To be able to reach Bhandar today we use a jeep for the long ascendant to Bhandar. Overnight at Bhandar Guesthouse & Hotel, a normal standard teahouse. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 11: Trek to Deurali.
Deurali is definitely a place with a view! We have a steep 3 hours uphill before reaching the pass, but once there, it is a lovely place. We eat lunch and have a slow afternoon watching the mountains. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 12: Trek to Shivalaya.
Today is downhill. We pass small villages and in some places the path is steep. We take it slowly and reach in time for a late lunch. Shivalaya is a large village by a river, passed by several trekking routes. Here we find many teahouses and shops. (B/L/D). Overnight at Kalopattar Guesthouse, a normal standard teahouse.
Day 13: Trek to Jiri, drive to Mirge.
Today’s walk is beautiful! We walk along rivers, hanging bridges, forests, and several really cute villages. In the beginning, we ascend a long uphill to a pass, around 3 hours, and from there down again. Jiri is the end of the Jiri Highway which traverses the districts of Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha, and it was from here Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay started their expedition which turned into the first successful summit of Mt Everest. From here the trek to Lukla takes 7-8 days, and it is still a well-trekked route. From here we get into the jeeps and drive the last part of the way, to Mirge, the home village of our trekking staff. In Mirge we stay at Beyond Borders Ethical Adventures own homestay, and if needed, in rooms spread out on different households in the village. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 14: Full day in Mirge.
Foreigners are a rare sight in the village and we are warmly welcomed by the local people. We visit the local school, the village center, and make a walk to a small Hindu village nearby. A truly memorable day hard to explain in words! (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 15: Trek to Namdu, drive to Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we start the downhill walk to the village of Namdu, crossing rice fields and villages. We walk on a dirt road with very few to no vehicles and cross the river on a suspension bridge. The hike takes around 3 hours and in Namdu we get into the jeep which will take us to Kathmandu. (Breakfast/lunch/dinner included)
Day 16: Sightseeing in Bhaktapur and Pashupatinath.
We spend the day exploring the magical capital Kathmandu. Here we visit the important world heritage sites Bhaktapur and Pashupatinath, Kathmandu’s largest and most important Hindu temple. Overnight at Hotel Dolmaling. (Breakfast/lunch included)
Day 17: Departure
Our driver will drop you off at the airport according to your flight schedule.
